“Travels”
I love to travel! My youngest brother, Chris, always says, “Linda, came out of the womb dragging a suitcase” I don’t think that he was far off. Almost all my paintings and drawings of places are from places which we visited over the years. I work mostly from photos as the light does’’t change. Also I can enjoy the moment, without slowing down my family or friends by sitting around sketching.
“Doors”
Doors have always fascinated me, even the “Plain Jane” ones. I love seeing and discovering the Unique ones hidden in plain sight, everywhere. I Wonder: What is its’ story? Why did they choose this door? and most of all, What is behind this door?
“Gardens and Nature”
Some our favorite things to do while traveling or here at home in Northwest Arkansas is to go to Botanical Gardens. We also like to visit parks and or Nature Preserves: Local, State, and National. Sometimes we will just take a drive or hike to visit some lesser know byways. I almost always travel with a camera, a sketch book, a bird and plant guide book. as well as binoculars. Then I can try and recapture what I saw or experienced when I get home. But still get to enjoy the moment with whom ever I am with on the adventure.
“Insects and Critters”
I really love almost all animals, with the exception of snakes and mosquitoes. Those I can do without. I know that God put them on the earth for a purpose, but I still don’t care for them. I find it fascinating at the many adaptations so many insects and animals have made to survive and thrive. Some are so Beautiful and some are so Unique and Strange. How wonderful it is to see them, they make our World a Wonderful place to live.
“Birds”
Birds are so unique! so many Colors,Sizes, and Shapes! It is amazing. I have been an avid Bird Watcher most of my life. Somewhere I have several crayon drawings of birds that my mother saved for me that I did in Kindergarten and 1st grade. I must say that I have greatly improved over the last 70 years or so.
